Prof Jane Elliott to speak at Methods in Dialogue workshop, University of Manchester

Professor Jane Elliott, Director of CLS, will speak at the Methods in Dialogue workshop, Researching Imagined Futures, at the University of Manchester on 30 May 2012.

Other speakers include Dr Virginia Morrow, Senior Research Officer for the Young Lives International Study of Childhood Poverty and Sue Heath, Professor of Sociology and co-director of the Morgan Centre at the University of Manchester.

Prof Elliott’s presentation is entitled “Imagined life at 60…combining analysis of responses to an open ended question with longitudinal quantitative data”. All three speakers will introduce the different methodological approaches they have taken to researching imagined futures. Their presentations will be followed by discussion and debate with participants, exploring the distinct research questions, practices, insights and types of knowledge claim that different methodological approaches to researching a topic can offer.
