Three members of CLS visited America in early April as part of an international scoping study funded by the Economic and Social Research Council under the Survey Resources Network.
The study aims to investigate the potential for improving the efficiency and quality of data collection for complex longitudinal surveys in the UK. It is being carried out jointly by CLS and the Institute for Social and Economic Research at the University of Essex. The trip included visits to the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan, the Centre for Human Resource Research at Ohio State University, the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago and the National Center for Health Statistics in Washington.
