On 1 January 2006 a new two-year project started at CLS which will produce a set of teaching datasets and associated resources based on our three cohort studies (NCDS, BCS and MCS). These datasets will primarily be aimed at lecturers teaching research methods to masters students. However, they will also be of use to researchers who are using the cohort studies for the first time, and they will provide well-documented derived variables that will potentially be of use to the whole research community. Samantha Parsons, a CLS Research Officer, will be working on the project. She has many years of experience of analysing NCDS and BCS70 data and we are delighted that she is able to take on this new role. She will be working with Dr Jane Elliott and Professor Ian Plewis and together they will organise a series of workshops in late 2006 and early 2007 to introduce the resources. The project is funded under the ESRC Researcher Development Initiative.

Please contact Samantha Parsons (s.parsons@ioe.ac.uk) for further information about this project.
