On Tuesday 16 February Radio 4 launched a fascinating new five-part series called When I Grow Up. In 1969, 14,000 primary school pupils from across the country who were taking part in the 1958 National Child Development Study (NCDS) were invited to write an essay about what they thought their lives would be like when they grew up and were aged 25 years.
All CLS survey participants are guaranteed absolute anonymity but for this radio series a dozen of the NCDS cohort members, now in their early 50s, talk openly about how their lives have turned out in relation to the essays that they penned as children.
The five 15-minute episodes are being broadcast on Tuesday mornings and are also be available on BBC iPlayer (www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer)
