Terms & conditions for conference submissions

Authors agree to abide by the following terms and conditions in their submissions to the conference, Celebrating 50 years of the 1970 British Cohort Study: a longitudinal studies conference.

1.1  All abstracts will be independently blind-reviewed by at least two reviewers from the Conference Programme Committee. Authors should, therefore, ensure that their names or any author-identifying information are not included in the long or short abstract or presentation title.

1.2  The language of the conference is English and all papers should be in English.

1.3  While the online submission form will ask for all speaker and co-author details, the Conference Programme Committee will only contact the submitting author.

1.4  The decision of the Conference Programme Committee in relation to the acceptance of the papers is final.

1.5  The Centre for Longitudinal Studies, University College London will notify submitters of acceptance, rejection and/or suggested modifications as soon as the review process has been completed. Authors should act on feedback and comments provided by the reviewers in a timely fashion, in order to ensure high-quality Conference Programme.

1.6  By submitting an abstract to be reviewed, the author(s) is indicating that they will attend the conference and present their submission.

1.7  All presenters must register for the conference and pay the registration fee by Monday 30 March 2020, or their submission will be withdrawn.

By submitting your Contribution (abstract) to the conference:

2.1  You warrant that the Contribution will be original, will not violate or infringe any existing copyright or other right (of whatever nature) of any third party; will contain nothing obscene, blasphemous, defamatory, misleading or otherwise unlawful; and you further warrant that you have full power to enter into this agreement.

2.2  If the Contribution does not conform to the warranties set out in Paragraph 8 above, you will indemnify the Centre for Longitudinal Studies, University College London against any claims, loss, injury, damage or costs (including legal costs) that arise as a result of your breach of warranty. You will be responsible (at your expense) for obtaining permission for the inclusion in the Contribution of any third party copyright material.

2.3  Copyright of the Conference Programme as a whole is with the Centre for Longitudinal Studies, University College London. Authors retain the rights to their individual Contributions included in the Programme, and by submitting their work for presentation at the Conference, authors grant a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to the Centre for Longitudinal Studies, University College London to reproduce the Contribution in the Conference Programme and other materials relating to the event.

2.4  The Centre for Longitudinal Studies, University College London will have the right, where we consider it necessary, to revise, edit, amend and correct the Contribution for grammatical errors and consistency, or to meet space restrictions in the Conference Programme.

2.5  The Centre for Longitudinal Studies, University College London, their partners and staff take no responsibility and accept no liability whatsoever for the accuracy, impact, or consequences of any Contribution presented at the conference and published in the Conference Programme. Papers reflect the authors’ opinions, not those of the Centre for Longitudinal Studies, University College London, their partners or their staff.
