Age 34 Sweep – Parent and child study

As part of the 1970 British Cohort Study Age 34 Sweep, half of cohort members with children aged 16 and under were randomly chosen to take part in a special study. Parents selected were asked to complete an interview module and a questionnaire about each of their children. Children aged three and over were set a variety of cognitive tasks and children over the age of 10 also completed their own questionnaire. This parent/child focus largely replicated the ‘Mother and Child Survey’, which was carried out with a representative sample of participants in the National Child Development Study cohort in 1991 when they were age 33.
