Cohen’s research sits at the intersection of the sociology of social networks and human behavioural ecology. In general, he is concerned with the mathematical study of network formation (i.e., Where do social networks come from?), where the role of genetic kinship is a special interest. Empirically, Cohen focuses on cooperative relationships (e.g., food sharing) in small-scale, subsistence-based societies. And, at CLS, he is keen to explore the heritability of one’s position within cooperative networks.
Cohen received a PhD in Social Research Methods from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He previously worked at the University of Oxford, the London School of Economics, and the University of Cambridge with a sojourn in industry as a Data Scientist at Octopus Energy Group.
