Psychosocial Pathways to Cardiovascular Disease: A Life Course Perspective (Laura Kubzansky, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health)

This session will use a life course perspective to consider how psychological factors can help understand well-documented social disparities in cardiovascular disease. We will discuss epidemiologic evidence suggesting psychological states, both positive and negative, influence risk of developing cardiovascular disease and explore mechanisms underlying these relationships. We will also discuss how early life environments contribute to setting up psychosocial trajectories of risk or resilience.
